Our Mekong Delta 3 days tour will let you go deeper into the palm jungle of the Mekong Delta to see more of the traditional rural life of this fascinating area. Visit local farms and houses to learn how people live along the river.
By bike, we cycle on canal paths and orchard trails, across ferries that sometimes only fit half a dozen people and through the charming villages and towns that this area is known. You will be immersed deep in the Delta and its unique way of life. At each corner a picture-perfect scene awaits you.
As much an eating tour as a biking tour, the cuisine of this area will delight you. Each meal and snack stop are carefully selected to allow you to sample a wide variety of the Delta’s delicious foods. At the end of each day, you will relax and experience two of the top rated hotels in all of southern Vietnam.
Travel to My Tho by speedboat
8:00 am: Les Rives guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel and bring you by car to your boat at Ho Chi Minh City pier.
8:15 am: The boat departs and you slip away from downtown Saigon via narrow canals, and enter the verdant green tributaries of the Mekong Delta. A light breakfast is served on board.
9:00 am: Visit Can Giuoc riverside market full of local curiosities, tropical fruits and all manner of fish and shellfish. Great photo opportunities!
10:00 am: Enjoy a brief stop at the Pagoda, while your guide explains the importance of Buddhism to many people of the Mekong Delta.
10:30 am: Reach the idyllic watery expanses of the Delta itself, known as the Delta of Nine Dragons for the 9 tributaries that splinter from the main Mekong River.
12:00 pm: Visit a brick atelier to see how locals still use traditional technologies to make bricks.
12:30 pm: Take a ride on “xe loi”, a traditional transport used in the villages of the Mekong Delta.
1:00 pm: Have a delicious lunch at a local riverside restaurant.
2:00 pm: Continue your xe loi ride and visit a weaving workshop. Board a boat and go through small canals to reach a coconut candy workshop.
3:00 pm: Arrive at the boutique hotel The Island Lodge. Relax by the river, chill at the pool or take a bike ride on the peaceful alleys of the Unicorn Island full of shady fruit trees. In case the Island Lodge hotel is fully booked, we offer the guests to stay at the same-range Mekong Riverside boutique hotel.
In the evening, have a delicious dinner specially cooked for you by a French chef of the Island Lodge or enjoy a traditional dinner prepared with the products from the organic garden and the fish farm of Mekong Riverside boutique hotel.
Cycle to Can Tho (45-50 km cycling)
9:00 am: Start the second day of our Mekong Delta 3 day tour by delicious breakfast. Grasshopper Adventures guide will meet you at the hotel with the bikes ready to ride. You will cycle from the hotel, through the beautiful Delta landscape, along canal paths and rural roads, crossing on many ferries.
10:30 am: Rest stop with fresh fruit at a local coffee shop next to a local market.
12:00 pm: A short visit to the imposing Catholic church established in 1731 by Spanish missionaries.
1:30 pm: Lunch at a local homestay near Cho Lach in a setting surrounded by fruit orchards.
2:15 pm: After lunch, you will set out for your last riding piece of the day. There is one more ferry across the Mekong River to Vinh Long, where you will tour a traditional local brick kiln.
2:45 pm: Board the private van and be transferred to Can Tho known as Mekong Delta capital city.
4:00 pm: Arrive at Victoria Hotel, a stunning French style hotel located on the Bassac River. There is time to enjoy the swimming pool or taking advantage of the many hotel amenities.
As an alternative option, we offer a stay at a charming boutique Nam Bo hotel (the price will be adjusted accordingly).
7:00 pm: A short boat ride, or walking, for dinner at a nearby fun & tasty local restaurant.
Cycle to Vinh Long & Transfer to Saigon (25km cycling)
6:00 am: Wake early morning on the third day of the Mekong Delta 3 day tour for Can Tho’s famous floating market. After a quick coffee in the lobby, you will be transferred by private van to the nearby riverfront.
6:20 am: Board on a small boat and cruise around Cai Rang floating market, the largest in Mekong Delta. Enjoy its energetic atmosphere and prepare your camera for some great shots!
7:30 am: You will arrive back at the hotel to enjoy the delicious buffet breakfast.
9:00 am: Start cycling from the hotel and then board a local ferry to cross the river. Cycling under the imposing Can Tho Bridge, our route this morning is the area known as known as Pomelo.
10:00 am: Have a snack and coffee break and then pay a visit to a famous Khmer Temple near Tra On.
11:00 am: Our cycling concludes along small concrete paths through local villages and markets, along with the small canals adjacent to the Mekong.
12:00 pm: Finish cycling and be transferred to a local restaurant for lunch.
2:00 pm: You will get in the private van for transfer to Saigon.
5:00 pm: You will be dropped off at your hotel in Saigon.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Experience Life in the Mekong Delta 3 Days Tour by Boat and Bicycle
The Vietnamese have a saying that people who live by the river and live with the river. Not only is the delta a place of shelter for its people, it’s also a provider.
Many villages and towns depend on the countless canals, tributaries and markets in the region for produce. As well as fish, produce yielded by the Delta’s rich alluvial soil includes rice, sesame, peanuts, cashews, pineapples, dragon fruit and durian.
As part of the tour, you will visit a bustling riverside market overflowing with Delta produce, which you can sample. There will be lots interesting and colorful photos opportunities!
You will then visit a brick atelier, a coconut candy and weaving mat workshops. Then you’ll explore small canals of Ben Tre by boat.
Your Les Rives chef will serve you a traditional Vietnamese lunch includes fresh spring rolls, caramelized pork, chicken with ginger, and the Mekong Delta delicacy, Elephant Ear fish.
You will cycle through the beautiful Delta landscape, along canal paths and rural roads, crossing on many ferries. You will explore Can Tho, known as the capital of the Mekong Delta, and enjoy the energetic atmosphere of the famous Cai Rang floating market.
You will pay a visit to a famous Khmer Temple near Tra On and conclude your tour cycling concludes along small concrete paths through local villages and markets, along with the small canals adjacent to the Mekong.
What to know in advance of the Mekong Delta 3 Days Tour
There are two main routes for the tour after you depart the market, depending on the tour guide and water level.
Bring your camera! The Mekong Delta is one of the most beautiful regions of Vietnam, and there many opportunities to capture classic images of rural Vietnamese life as you travel.
Please request vegetarian or Halal food options 24 hours in advance of your tour. Please note for Halal food a $10 surcharge will be incurred.
Soft drinks ( Coke Zero), matcha green tea, water and fruit provided during the boat journey are included in the overall price and not subject additional charge.
Les Rives will provide insect repellent, waterproof ponchos and umbrellas.
When visiting pagodas and temples it is respectful, but not mandatory, to cover exposed skin.
We also recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, light clothing and a hat.
In November to February, we suggest you bring a jacket for the early starts.
Home made products are available for purchase as souvenirs from the producers.
We are happy to say that no tour is exactly the same with Les Rives, and as result scheduled times can vary slightly.
