Les Rives spent a decade running speedboats on the Saigon River before commissioning two catamarans for Phu Quoc. They were built for this coast, and they sail south to the An Thoi archipelago rather than along the resort beaches. That is where the coral sits, and where most of the islands have nobody living on them.
Two ways to spend a day on the water: a full day of snorkeling and fishing through the islands, or a three-hour sunset cruise. Both run as a shared departure or as a private charter with the boat to yourselves.

The Forest Behind the Beaches
Most of Phu Quoc is not beach. Nearly two thirds of the island is forest, protected inside a 36,000-hectare national park where botanists have recorded more than 1,300 plant species, twelve of them first described here and named after the island.

The Fish Sauce Rules
Phu Quoc's fish sauce was the first Vietnamese product to win protected-origin status in the EU, in 2012. Producers use three kinds of anchovy, salt the catch on deck within hours of hauling it in, and age it in wooden barrels for at least a year.

The Cable Car Record
The cable car out to Hon Thom runs just under 7.9 kilometres, which won it a Guinness record in 2018: the longest non-stop three-rope cable car in the world. Sixty-nine cabins work the line, and the crossing takes about fifteen minutes.

The Dugong Still Come
Nine kinds of seagrass grow along the island's east coast, the biggest meadows anywhere in Vietnam. Dugong swim down from Cambodian waters to graze on them, mostly between September and November.

Coral Planted by Hand
Divers from the national park replanted 450 staghorn corals on the south side of Hon Kim Quy in April 2022, growing the stock first in an underwater nursery off Hon May Rut. The reef is being put back piece by piece.

Amazing First Snorkeling Trip in Southern Phu Quoc!
Our first snorkeling trip to southern Phu Quoc was fantastic, all thanks to Les Rives' excellent organization and planning. Hung, our tour guide was wonderful. He explained the itinerary clearly, so we always knew what was next. The islands and snorkeling spots were beautiful, and it felt like we had the island all to ourselves. Amazing trip
We had an amazing day exploring multiple islands in the south of Phu Quoc with Les Rives. The tour was exceptionally well-organized, and the team took excellent care of us throughout the trip. We were treated to a delicious lunch on one of the islands, which was a delightful highlight. The snorkeling experience was fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the stops at the beautiful islands. What a great day
I discovered this company while searching for boat trips with snorkeling in the southern part of Phu Quoc, and I'm glad I did. Booking through their website was easy, and they picked us up on time from our hotel lobby. Our guide, Hung, was fantastic—funny, knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. We had a great day snorkeling at a beautiful island and trying our hand at fishing. The delicious seafood lunch on a private island was a highlight. Overall, the experience was exceptional, thanks to the friendly staff. I highly recommend it.
Highly recommended
We had an amazing time on this sunset cruise tour. Staff are extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. Unlimited complementary include tea, soft drinks, water tropical fruit and snacks were provided along the tour. The catamaran speedboat was barely half full, we were able to walk around and change sits and enjoy different views. Hang was our tour guide, she was lovely and spoke English very well. Another plus is that all staff wore masks at the whole times and followed covid regulations strictly. Overall really good experience and highly recommended.
Lovely guide ever
Overall it was a great day out. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and transferred to An Thoi harbour where we joined the speedboat tour to explore the southern of Phu Quoc. As there was a heavy rain the day before the tour, I was a little concerned about the sea that would not be ideal for snorkelling, however Hang, our lovely tour guide, had an extensive knowledge of the local snorkelling areas and changed the itinerary to suit the conditions. Our first snorkelling was in the relatively shallow waters of Hon Bang island, and then the deeper, but slightly more exposed site on Hon Buom island. Both locations are great spot for snorkelling with beautiful coral and lots of colorful fish swimming around. After that we had back to the private island for lunch. Thanks Hang and her team for this great day.

I can’t say enough good things about the experience and the crew, especially the tour guide, Hang. She was lovely, knowledgeable. She gave us some good information about the life of local fisherman in An Thoi. My boyfriend loved the sunset scenery, it was beautiful and romantic. I travel quite a bit and I’m the typical traveller with high expectations and standards, but this was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Highly recommended!!
Romantic sunset
This was one of the best experience we had in Phu Quoc. First of all, the staff was very nice and welcoming. They served us fruits, water, soft drinks and snacks. The staff also respects the COVID-19 measurements, by providing hand sanitizer and give masks if you don’t have one. Everyone is kept at distance from the other. I will strongly recommend you to do this with sunset cruise. The catamaran speedboat was spotless and huge. I will definitely do it again and recommend this cruise to everyone.

South of An Thoi, Phu Quoc stops being one island. The coast breaks into a scatter of rocks, sandbars and coral coves that the charts call the An Thoi archipelago, and that is where every one of our boat tours goes.
Hon May Rut, Hon Dam Ngang, Hon Kim Quy, Hon Thom, Hon Dam, Hon Roi. A few have fishing families on them. Most have nobody at all. The water between them runs shallow and clear, the coral sits close enough to the surface that a mask and a pair of fins is all it asks of you, and our catamarans draw little enough water to anchor close in.

Good to know before you book.
- When to sail
- The dry months, roughly November through April, bring the calmest sea and the clearest water. From May to October rain arrives fast and clears fast, and the boats carry rain cover. If conditions are unsafe we rebook you.
- Where the boats leave
- Every tour starts at An Thoi Harbour, at the southern tip of the island. Hotel pickup is included within 10 km of it. If you are staying further north, around Duong Dong or Long Beach, tell us where you are and we will quote the transfer.
- On board
- Fifteen guests at most on a shared sailing, against a twenty-seat capacity. A qualified captain and an engineer on every trip, international-standard safety equipment, and travel insurance in what you pay.
- Taking the whole boat
- Either tour runs as a private charter, quoted per boat rather than per person, with the day built around what you want to see. Choose Private Charter on the tour page, or send us your dates.
Common questions.
Why do you ask for my passport number when booking?
We are required by Vietnamese local authorities to collect passport details for all guests before departure. If you don’t have your passport number to hand when booking, simply complete your reservation first and email your passport details to bookings@lesrivesexperience.com at your convenience before the tour. Your information is used solely for the required registration process.
Why are your tours more expensive than other operators?
Most operators run large buses to crowded sites. We travel by private luxury speedboat in small groups, arriving ahead of the crowds, with breakfast, lunch, refreshments, all entrance fees, your guide, hotel transfers and travel insurance already included, no hidden extras.
A share of every booking also supports the local riverside families and communities we work with. You’re paying for a calmer, more comfortable, more responsible day out, not just a seat.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before your tour. 50% refund for cancellations 6–3 days before. Within 3 days, the booking is non-refundable.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If conditions are unsafe, we’ll reschedule or cancel and let you know in advance, with alternative options. Light rain isn’t a problem — our speedboats have full rain protection, and we provide waterproof ponchos and umbrellas on board.
What payment methods do you accept, and is it secure?
We accept all major credit cards, cash or bank transfer. Online payments are processed by Trekksoft, our PCI-DSS-compliant booking partner, with SSL encryption, your card and personal details are never stored on our site.
Are your boats and tours safe?
Yes. Every speedboat carries complete international-standard safety equipment, life jackets for all guests, and rain protection for any season. Although our boats hold up to 20, we carry a maximum of 14–15 guests so everyone travels comfortably and safely.
Are your tours suitable for children and families?
Absolutely. Our tours suit all ages, with child-sized life jackets on board and a relaxed small-group pace that works well for families. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult — just let us know the ages when you book so we can prepare.
Can you cater to vegetarian or other dietary needs?
Yes. We’re happy to arrange vegetarian and other special diets, just note your requirements in the booking form.
What languages do your guides speak?
All of our guides are fluent in English. Guides in other languages can often be arranged in advance for an additional fee ,just ask when you book.
