Arriving at Cu Chi Tunnels before the large crowds, you’ll gain fascinating insights into Vietnam’s wartime history. Next, continue your journey to the Mekong Delta, where you’ll experience a world of lush waterways, traditional villages, and timeless rural life. 7:00 am: Early in the morning, your Les Rives guide will meet you in your hotel lobby and take you by car to our speedboat at Bach Dang Pier.

7:20 am: Depart Ho Chi Minh City by speedboat, leaving the urban skyline behind as you cruise along the Saigon River. Enjoy a light breakfast of sandwiches or pastries, fresh tropical fruits, and Vietnamese iced coffee (Cà phê sữa đá) while your guide shares stories about life along the riverbanks.

8:50 am: Arrive at Cu Chi Tunnels before the majority of larger tour groups. Begin with a short documentary about the significance of the tunnels during the war.

9:00 am: Explore the tunnel site, which includes weapon and booby trap exhibitions, navigating authentic Viet Cong tunnel, visiting different underground bunkers (kitchens, meeting rooms, ammunitions etc.), a firing range and much more. Try the local cassava root that sustained Viet Cong fighters for years.

10:45 am: Leave Cu Chi and enjoy a relaxing speedboat ride toward the Mekong Delta, taking in the changing landscapes along the way.

12:45 pm: Enjoy a traditional Mekong Delta lunch at a scenic riverside restaurant, featuring local delicacies like fried elephant ear fish and other specialty dishes.

1:30 pm: Visit a 1.5-hectare fruit orchard, home to guava, ambarella, longan, lime, and other seasonal delights. Stroll among the trees and enjoy the freshest tropical fruits straight from the source.

2:15 pm: Explore a bustling riverside market, where locals trade exotic produce, fresh seafood, and unique handmade goods—perfect for an authentic glimpse into daily Mekong life.

2:45 pm: Discover the striking Cao Dai Temple, a spiritual landmark blending Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Catholicism. Learn about this fascinating religion and its vibrant culture.

3:10 PM: Visit a Buddhist pagoda, a sacred space that also serves as an orphanage, run by monks. Gain insight into the charitable and spiritual role of Buddhism in the local community.

3:30 PM: Experience the charm of the Mekong Delta as you enjoy a short 10-minute ride in a traditional rowboat through the small canals, surrounded by coconut palms. Though brief, this peaceful activity provides a unique perspective on the region’s natural beauty.  You will visit a quaint Mekong village, and then a traditional farmhouse where you’ll sample coconuts and Mekong whisky.

4:00 PM: Return to the speedboat and depart for Ho Chi Minh City.

5:15 PM: Arrive back in Saigon. Les Rives’ staff will return you to your hotel by car.

Dress code: Proper wear is strongly recommended when visiting Cao Dai Temple and pagodas.
