Before we even started our day we knew it was going to be a success. We met other people from our hotel going to the same place but by bus. Theirs a 15 hour trip.... Ours - 6! And only approx 2 of that was sitting on a boat, with a cool breeze, food and drinks and beautiful scenery. We arrived before the carpark had any other tourists and immediately began our tour. An excellent guide, with local insights and stories delivered in excellent English and after the tour an excellent lunch followed by another brief cruise back to the city, refreshed and ready for our next adventure. The crew, the guide and the whole tour was awesome. You won't regret it.

    Cu Chi Tunnels with Speedboat

We had an amazing time on the Cu Chi Tunnels tour with Hang! From start to finish, everything was so well organised, and the service from the entire team was exceptional. Hang was an incredible tour guide—she was so knowledgeable about the history, explained everything in an engaging way, and was able to answer every question we had. We especially loved the boat ride and hearing her point out and explain everything we were seeing along the river. It really added another layer to the experience and made the tour even more memorable. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels. It was informative, enjoyable, and incredibly well run. Thank you to Hang and the whole team for such a fantastic experience—we would definitely do this tour again!

Exciting experience with top tour guide

Pick up in the morning was on time, staff was very friendly. The speed boat is comfortable and we were served light breakfast and soft drinks, all included. Lucky, our young tour guide, was not just forthcoming and charming but also extremely well informed, and she conveyed all information in perfect English and with the right portion of humour. Crawling through the tunnels was an eery yet interesting experience, you should be somewhat fit to do it though. We were given a very authentic look into the war time, but the general atmosphere with the group was still pleasant. We got back to Ho Chi Minh as scheduled. Can definitely recommend!

Great family experience in HCM

Highly recommend taking the speedboat if you’re heading to the Cu Chi Tunnels! Anna was a fantastic guide and made the experience so enjoyable for our family of four. We loved seeing Ho Chi Minh City from the river, learning about the history of the tunnels, and arriving before the crowds. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish and definitely made our visit to the tunnels even more memorable.

Great tour

Anna, gave us a great tour. This is one of the more expensive Cu Chi tours but worth it. We got there in 1 hour 15 mins and we're back at the hotel by 12.30. Nice and cool to be on the water and we missed the crowds too. Lunch was delicious and we were well looked after. Great to learn about life in the tunnels.

Jenny Bourgeois

What a day. It was an early start - a great way to travel to the tunnels - boat. So much to see along the way. Once at the tunnels we were the first group to view it all. Amazing story about the war and the tunnels. Lunch was great - like all the food on our trip. Well worth the early start.

Always such a great experience with Les Rives! I’ve brought many visiting friends on their tours and it never disappoints! They are so friendly and informative, we always learn so much and the guides always make us laugh too. Plus the boat is such a relaxing and calm way to get to the tunnels :)

Mark Skelton

Thoroughly enjoyable trip. Everything was very smooth, from hotel pick up, boat trip up the river, tour of the tunnels and drop off back at the hotel. The guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. Although the tunnels have been enlarged, they are still quite tight and give you a great sense of how terrible life must have been for the people hiding there. Going by boat at 7am is the way to go, as you arrive before all the buses and crowds get there. Highly recommended trip.

Great Last Day in Vietnam

Spent my last day in Vietnam exploring the Cu Chi Tunnels with my friend living in HCMC & it was a great experience. I really enjoyed the speedboat to the tunnels & more importantly our tour guide Anna was very informative regarding the history & encouraging to try going in the tunnels + firing range which elevated the experience. Would recommend!

Cu Chi Tunnels Boat Trip and Tour

Very direct and quick experience of the Cu Chi Tunnels through the Saigon river. Early morning departure is easy and speedy pickup and complementary food and drinks on boat alleviates any issues, and avoids the larger crowds from later in the day. Lucky (our tour guide) was very clear and informative, quickly filling in answers for many of our questions before we even asked them and providing detailed information!

Ryan Anwander

This was such an amazing experience. Anh was our guide and she was phenomenal. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see the tunnels and want a comfortable and no hassle way to do it. Their whole team is beyond exceptional.

Cu Chi tunnels

The guide was very knowledgeable and could answer all the questions asked. Great lunch after tour. Best and fastest way to get to the tunnels earlier than the crowds on tour buses and boat trip about 1.30 hours each way. Well worth the extra price.

katy peters

What a wondeful start to our holiday. This is the only way to get to the tunnels . So much fun on the way there and it meant we got to the tunnels with no one else there so the morning was just amazing. Our guide was so helpful and informative It’s a must do.

A very unique place on earth - Cu Chi

We arrived early at Cu Chi Tunnel by a speedboat to avoid the crowd. Our guide Hang explained to us what we saw while on the river, like the half dismantled bridge, different types of hospitals, flood control mechanisms, buildings for bird nests, etc. She is extremely knowledgeable seasoned with a sense of humour. For example, she showed us what kind of juice from flowers could be used as shampoo / why they cooked rice in bamboo instead of pots. Of course she explained in details the tunnels and the war.

The Best Way to Experience Cu Chi Tunnels

This tour was very well organized and operated. The pickup was on time, our boat captain was great and the service on board with fruit and cold drinks was very attentive. Anna is an excellent guide - she took us through the Cu Chi site and was extremely knowledgeable. It was fascinating to learn about the ingenuity and resilience of the resistance fighters. Anna explained so much detail and kept our group moving along so we could see everything before the midday heat and many of the crowds of other tour groups arrived. Highly recommend this experience. The boat ride along the river to and from Cu Chi was enjoyable and much better than sitting in traffic!

Jemma Abey

Amazing! Our guide was so knowledgeable and even shared personal experiences that her loved ones have had living in the tunnels which was very special. Honestly, don’t bother with any of the other tour companies. We saw them while there, the groups are huge and you don’t get to see as much. Les Rives has small groups, quicker travel on the speed boat and a yummy lunch also. Well worth the extra cost compared to other companies.

Private Boat Tour

From great communication and booking process to the seamless pick up and departure our trip was made very simple and enjoyable. We had a private tour with Lucky who spoke excellent English and was informative, helpful and humorous through the day. She spoke excellent English and understood the kind of tour we were after The boat crew were brilliant with cold drinks and fresh fruit in hand. Overall a great experience thank you

Cu Chi tunnels by Mekong River

Had an excellent river trip to Cu Chi Tunnels. The boat is much faster than by road and you get there early before the crowds. Hotel pick up was on time . We had a bahn mi for breakfast on the boat plus a Vietnamese coffee. Fruit, Water and coke were also provided. Anna our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made sure we were altogether before she started speaking. After the tour we had an amazing lunch of local food, before heading back to Ho Ch Minh. A bit more expensive than by road but definitely well worth it.

Best way to visit Cu Chi and no annoying traffic jam

I will highly recommend this tour if you want to visit Cu Chi Tunnels. Go by speedboat is a great experience as it can avoid the bad traffic jam and also enjoy the view of Saigon River. Faster and more comfortable. The crew are also very nice, be very clear about the schedule what's next, where to plan the short rest. Our tour guide Lucky makes our tour totally exceeding the expectations, she has great knowledge about the Cu Chi Tunnel and the history behind, she is taking care us especially the young kid every nicely. The Tour also included the fresh fruits and cold drinks on the boat and one nice and fresh lunch. I think it's a much better choice than the bus tour.

This tour is a very emotional experience. The tour guides are amazing and also know personal stories that they share. Going by speed boat is a great way to see the river and sights, and the boat is comfortable. I would recommend the early moring trip as you do beat the crowds and the heat. If you are game try the the tunnels it does give you a perspective of this horrible war. Even if you don't go down there is alot of information given and things to see. Lunch was plentiful and yummy. The tour also did a breakfast. The staff are super friendly and speak very good English. photos do not do this place justice, highly recommend this tour 11/10.

To see the Cu Chi tunnels, I opted for the more luxurious option of getting there by speedboat with ‘Les Rives Authentic River Experience’ rather than by bus or taxi, and I certainly haven't regretted the decision. By the way, it wasn't the kind of speedboat where you have to hold on tightly to prevent yourself from falling off. 😉 Although the boat trip is not much faster than travelling by bus, it has the following advantages: a) There is the possibility to sit outside and enjoy the view and the breeze. b) Because of a), the seating order was fluid rather than preset, at least in our group, which allowed talking to other members of the group if one wanted to. c) The catering service was excellent. We were offered a light breakfast, plenty of fruit (my favourite!) and soft drinks on top of the great lunch served at the destination. I was very glad that Lucky was our tour guide. Upon arrival at our destination, she gave a thorough introduction to the history of the Vietnam conflict and the tunnel structure, which I really appreciated. Furthermore she conveyed the facts and stories in an interesting and entertaining way throughout the tour, and her English was excellent. On top of that, she was a very likeable person with a great sense of humour. My thanks also go to the boat crew, i.e. the captain and the young and very friendly lady in charge of catering. We also had a nice chat on the return trip. It was a great experience!

Very impressed with this company, booking process for the Cu Chi Tunnels Tour was easy through their website and good comms via email. Price per person was approx $120 AUD. Driver was on time for pick up from our hotel. We chose the AM tour which started at 7am for us and concluded at 1pm. Breakfast was provided - banh mi’s or croissants, Coffee and fruit. Water and soft drinks always available and one of the staff members was always making sure he was rotating them out of the ice box so always cold. The boat ride was smooth and very pleasant. Highly recommend this mode of transport versus road. It is a lot quicker. Our tour guide was excellent, we don’t usually do ‘tours’ but this moved along at a good pace and the timing avoided the crowds. There are amenities onsite with toilet paper. You can purchase extra drinks at the section where you purchase bullets for the various guns. It is pricey, cost $120 AUD for an AK47 (10 rounds min) and RPD machine gun (20 rounds min) that took only seconds to fire haha. We then had lunch provided in the restaurant onsite which was a nice meal before getting back on the boat. More drinks and fruit, then drop off at hotel. There is a detailed itinerary on the website. Highly Recommend this tour and specifically this company. The staff were very friendly and professional and safety conscious.

The speedboat trip to the Cu Chi tunnels was so worth the money. We were travelling with three teenage boys and were concerned about taking them on the buses, as we didn’t want to get there with three grumpy teenagers who would disengage. Going on the speedboat made it so much more interesting for them. It also meant we left so much earlier, which meant the temperatures were far more bearable. When we got there, there were very few people, which enabled us to really enjoy the tour and the exhibitions. At the end of our tour, we couldn’t believe how many buses there were in the car park and how busy the place had got. Whilst the price is quite a bit higher than going on the bus, we are so glad we paid the extra.

Tamara Fucile

The Cu Chi tunnels tour was the best tour my family took on our entire 2 week trip in Vietnam. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and presented the war history in a fair and balanced way. Arriving to the tunnels by boat allowed us to have a much more enjoyable journey from HCM and also enabled us to get to the tunnels first — before any other tour which greatly added to our experience. Yes, this tour is a little more expensive than others. But worth every penny. My only regret is that my family did not have the time to do additional tours with Les Rives.

Jenny bennett

Our absolute highlight of our two weeks in Vietnam (and we had an amazing trip). Taking the speedboat made the journey really comfortable and we got there before the crowds. Our guide Hang was so knowledgeable and even better so funny. An experience we will never forget.

Practical questions

Before you board.

Why do you ask for my passport number when booking?

We are required by Vietnamese local authorities to collect passport details for all guests before departure. If you don’t have your passport number to hand when booking, simply complete your reservation first and email your passport details to bookings@lesrivesexperience.com at your convenience before the tour. Your information is used solely for the required registration process.

Why are your tours more expensive than other operators?

Most operators run large buses to crowded sites. We travel by private luxury speedboat in small groups, arriving ahead of the crowds, with breakfast, lunch, refreshments, all entrance fees, your guide, hotel transfers and travel insurance already included, no hidden extras.

A share of every booking also supports the local riverside families and communities we work with. You’re paying for a calmer, more comfortable, more responsible day out, not just a seat.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, comfortable clothing and your camera. We provide drinking water, refreshments, insect repellent, waterproof ponchos and umbrellas, so you can travel light.

How long does it take to reach the Cu Chi Tunnels by speedboat?

About 1 hour 20 minutes along the Saigon River. The boat pauses at a few points along the way for your guide to share stories of riverside life and because we set off early, you arrive ahead of the buses groups.

I'm claustrophobic — do I have to go inside the tunnels?

Not at all. The tunnels have been widened but can still feel tight, so going underground is completely optional and only a small part of the day. Your guide will look after you, and there’s plenty to see above ground.

How much walking is there at the Cu Chi Tunnels?

Around 600–700m in total across the site, at an easy pace with rest stops along the way.

Which tunnels do you visit — Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc?

Our tours visit Ben Dinh, with the exception of the boat-and-bicycle option, which goes to Ben Duoc. We can also arrange Ben Duoc on a private tour by request.

Is the shooting range included?

The entrance fee to Cu Chi is already included in your tour price. The optional shooting range is not if you’d like to try it, it’s about 75,000 VND (around $3) per bullet, paid on the day.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

Full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before your tour. 50% refund for cancellations 6–3 days before. Within 2 days, the booking is non-refundable.

Where is the meeting point if my pickup location is not in your pickup zone?

The meeting point will be the Saigon Water Bus Station, please openopen this link to get the direction to the meeting point.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions are unsafe, we’ll reschedule or cancel and let you know in advance, with alternative options. Light rain isn’t a problem — our speedboats have full rain protection, and we provide waterproof ponchos and umbrellas on board.

What payment methods do you accept, and is it secure?

We accept all major credit cards, cash or bank transfer. Online payments are processed by Trekksoft, our PCI-DSS-compliant booking partner, with SSL encryption, your card and personal details are never stored on our site.

Are your boats and tours safe?

Yes. Every speedboat carries complete international-standard safety equipment, life jackets for all guests, and rain protection for any season. Although our boats hold up to 20, we carry a maximum of 14–15 guests so everyone travels comfortably and safely.

Are your tours suitable for children and families?

Absolutely. Our tours suit all ages, with child-sized life jackets on board and a relaxed small-group pace that works well for families. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult — just let us know the ages when you book so we can prepare.

Can you cater to vegetarian or other dietary needs?

Yes. We’re happy to arrange vegetarian and other special diets, just note your requirements in the booking form.

Are your tours suitable for older travellers or those who aren't very fit?

Yes. Our tours are comfortable for guests roughly aged 7 to 70. The speedboat does most of the travelling, walking is gentle and broken up with rest stops, and our guides are always on hand to help.

What languages do your guides speak?

All of our guides are fluent in English. Guides in other languages can often be arranged in advance for an additional fee ,just ask when you book.

Can I book a private or customised tour?

Yes. Many of our experiences can be run privately or tailored to your group, dates and interests. Contact us with what you have in mind and we’ll put a plan together.
